Roadtrip 2014: Vancouver - Yakima - Boise - Provo - Flagstaff - Tucson - Palm Springs - Paso Robles - Sacramento - Eureka - Bandon - Seaside - Vancouver

Day 43 - San Luis Obispo, Oceano Dunes, Guadalupe Dunes

Part of our neighborhood herd.

Could be a romantic town in Tuscany - but it's just San Luis Obispo.

The marvelous courtyard in the Mission at San Luis Obispo.

Emma the missionary.

San Luis Obispo is fully equipped with a Chinatown. This is it.

Just a little more of Chinatown - Russ is looking hopefully for Dim Sum. He is out of luck.

Strawberry fields forever.

Through the dunes to the sea.

Here we are at this spectacular beach - and Emma can't even get out of the car. Another one of those "rules".

No dogs allowed anywhere within the dunes preserve, we find out, one entrance at a time. No, it's not on their website.

At least the folks can have fun.

At last, the kite flies. For a minute.

On the drive out, we find the dunes want their road back.

Night shopping in San Luis Obispo - but mostly we came back for coffee and gelato.

SLO - as they call it here - is decking out for the season - though the Christmas music in the square was a bit much for Nov 18.

The Wordsauce Academy of Funk pulls up right behind us to the piercing screams of their groupies. One of the band hands us their latest album, "The Leak". They are the best.

Not to be outdone by SLO -Paso Robles merchants are getting into the seasonal swing as well.
